Practicing

Practicing

I'm practicing.

I'm practicing medical oncology.

I'm also practicing stand-up.

The key word here is "practicing."

Practice makes perfect is a load of crap.

Practice reduces fear is more like it.

I treat every bit like a new medication on the market.

Perhaps it will help.

Perhaps it won't.

Practice helps.

It doesn't perfect.

Practice helps reduce fear.

Reduced fear leads to more practice.

Practice allows me to keep showing up.

Even after bombing (comedy failure).

Beating myself up accomplishes nothing.

Learning a little more from every time I bomb accomplishes everything.

Stand-up is so difficult to learn.

Getting better at it takes a long time.

I'm going to bomb a lot.

Bombing is not really “failure.”

It's practice.

And sometimes practicing is everything.
