Many years ago I experienced the power of music.
My brain was rattled in an accident.
I couldn't talk.
I would need speech therapy.
I had to write out everything I wanted to say.
I failed at speaking words.
But music spoke to me in ways I'm still discovering.
I was struggling to say anything that made sense.
How I felt.
What I needed.
Enter the music.
My mom brought my boom box to the hospital and we could sing together.
Where speech was missing, song appeared.
With each song I slowly gained the ability to communicate again.
To express.
When speech lost, song won.
