Listen: Just get what they’re saying.

Observe: What's their body language saying?

Verbalize: Say it back to them. Exactly how you heard it.

Empathize: Get in their shoes for a moment as if you were telling their story as your own.

Stories are stories.

They don’t define us.

But they matter.

You matter.
