It happens to me.

When I do what I love.

Writing.

Songs.

Some are better than others.

Some suck.

But making a difference comes in all shapes and sizes.

I've always written songs.

In middle school, Marc and I wrote "Slug Rebellion."

I was a slug.

Rejection.

Struggle.

Redirection.

Expression.

Fast forward to oncologist.

I started writing songs with my patients.

The lyrics would hopefully make them smile.

I push myself to see them smile.

When they smile, oncology makes sense.

The persistence of med school makes sense.

My life makes sense.

The chaos of life makes sense.

It all makes sense.
